Candice has been a SSC/EMT for LifeNet since 2017. She started the career because it allowed her to continue her passion of helping others, whether it be medically, physically, or emotionally.

“I have always wanted to become a part of something bigger than myself and make a difference, so I feel that this is the right place for me,” she said. “I specifically chose to help people medically because I could be the difference between them living or dying. It’s a very risky job choice, but I feel that it is very humbling. It will always be a reminder to me to be thankful and appreciate what I have.”

Candice started out her career as an intern at LifeNet and has enjoyed multiple aspects of her career in EMS.

“I truly love the coworkers and patients I get to interact with. I have been blessed to experience a few areas of EMS so far, from intern/behavioral driver to dispatch and call taking. I am also excited for my future as a paramedic. I love that this job is always changing and that there is always something new to learn,” she said.

The thing Candice enjoys most about working at LifeNet is the way she feels at work.

“From day one working here, it felt like home,” she said. “I know that no matter what, there is always someone to listen, guide, and teach me as I further my EMS career.”

For others considering a career in EMS, Candice offers this advice: “Do your research. It is not for everyone. If you truly want to help people, you don’t care about the recognition, and you love a fast paced always changing career, then definitely consider EMS.”

When she isn’t at work, you’ll find Candice busy taking care of her husband and their eight children and two dogs. Candice also likes to bake and cook.
