Employee Spotlight: Britney Cox
Division: Texarkana, TX
Britney has worked for LifeNet since 2012 and is a System Status Controller (SSC).
“I became an SSC after witnessing how busy the communication center can be and how it requires intense multitasking. That challenge appealed to me,” she said.
One of the things that makes Britney great at her job is her ability to relate past life experience to events she handles over the phone now.
“When I was younger, I got a lot of practice diffusing situations with people who were not in their right mind and extremely agitated. I love that I can use that past negative experience and apply it to calming down a 911 caller so that we can help the patient,” she said.
Britney also enjoys being part of the LifeNet family.
“My coworkers at LifeNet are my favorite part about the job. Emotions run high and things can be tense at times, but at the end of the day we are all EMS family. Only people who do the job can truly understand what it is like, and it is great to be surrounded by people who can relate to you,” she said.
For others considering a career in EMS, Britney recommends getting real world experience.
“I would suggest talking to management at LifeNet and scheduling a time to ride out or to observe in the communication center,” she said.
When she isn’t at work, Britney enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing, watching TV, going to the lake, and visiting her parent’s farm. She also loves a good steak dinner.
