Donna has been a full-time paramedic in our Texarkana Division since 2013.
“Years ago my daughter had to be transported to Baylor. The EMT and Paramedic are faceless to me, but I remember how kind they were,” she said. “When I was looking for a career, I thought, ‘I know nothing about medicine, but I know how to be kind to someone who is facing the worst day of their life,” she said.
That thought inspired her to take the EMT course at Texarkana College and the rest is history.
She really enjoys the variety being on an ambulance provides and the people aspect of the job.
“No two shifts, no two calls are the same,” she said.
While people have different reasons for why they enjoy working at LifeNet, Donna has one.
“People, people, people,” she said. “The ones I work with, and the ones I meet while working.”
For others considering a career in EMS, Donna has one solid piece of advice.
“No matter how much medical knowledge you acquire, the truth is laughter is the best medicine,” she said.
When Donna isn’t at work, she enjoys horseback riding in the mountains.
