2022 Program Dates

  • July 11 – August 19

Trainees will attend class for six weeks in Camden, AR Monday-Friday (housing and food provided)

Participate in a comprehensive EMT training program at an approved college or fire academy; to perform all related learning and testing activities; to perform related emergency medical services activities while awaiting receipt of national and state licenses; to successfully complete the EMT academy program. Upon successful completion of the EMT training program, a trainee will be eligible to be placed in the FTO process as an EMT.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in a comprehensive training program at an approved college or fire academy for a specified period of time
  • Perform all related learning and testing activities
  • Perform related work while awaiting receipt of National and State Licenses
  • Learn general principles and practices of Emergency Medical Services specifically related to the role of Emergency Medical Technician
  • Learn the standard operation and uses of EMS equipment, apparatus, and supplies
  • Understand and carry out a variety of oral and written instructions in a timely and effective manner
  • Understand and act in accordance with departmental policies, rules, and regulations as well as instructional materials related to emergency treatment responses
  • Perform basic life support procedures in a timely and effective manner
  • Analyze situations, identify problems, and apply sound decision-making processes in the application of emergency response activities
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas or Arkansas driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, prefer at least 21 years of age
  • Able to pass a physical agility test
  • Must take and pass the college placement exam
  • Must be admissible to Arkansas Fire Training Academy
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to locate hospitals and major medical facilities in the area
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Willing to sign & commit to 24-month agreement working as an EMT with LifeNet, Inc. upon completion of the FTO process at LifeNet
  • Due to CMS mandates, all LifeNet employees in positions providing patient care must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or be eligible for an exemption)

Preferred Qualifications

  • First responder experience on a volunteer fire department
    (NREMT ECA Preferred, or completion of a First Responder Class)
  • Past experience working in healthcare as a CNA, LVN, or other capacity
  • Prior college experience
  • Prior coursework in medical terminology

About the Position
Trainees will receive LifeNet’s training wage to attend a 6-Week EMT Academy at the Arkansas Fire Training Academy (housing and food included at the Academy).  After successful completion of the academy and obtaining State and National Licenses, full-time employment is continued and graduates are put through the field training process at LifeNet.  Trainees agree to work for LifeNet for two years after completion of the EMT Academy and passing of the NREMT Exam.

Trainees are responsible for their own transportation expenses to and from Camden, Arkansas.
