Kari started out working as an EMT for LifeNet in 2005 and later transitioned into the Billing Office, where she currently works as a coder.
“I became and EMT so that I could help those in their time of need. I loved my time in the field. I transitioned to the billing department to be able to spend more time with my family,” she said. “I have loved working for LifeNet and learning all aspects of the call from the front end of responding to the patient’s emergency to the back end of coding and filing the claim. I enjoy helping in any way I can.”
For anyone considering a career in EMS, Kari offers this advice: “Learn it all. Be a sponge. The smallest things will turn out to be the game changers. Learn all aspects of the job, not just your niche.”
Kari enjoys the family atmosphere of working at LifeNet.
“I know my people. I know where I belong. I know who will be there no matter what, and that is my LifeNet family. At the end of the day, in a crisis, I can always call my people, and they will show up. Not just because it’s their job, but because I am their family.”
In her spare time, you’ll find Kari at the gym, in the mall, or spending time with her youngest son and her husband. She spends a lot of time following her son as he competes on the Ultimate High School Fishing Circuit and the Hooks FFA Trap Team. She has four other grown sons who are all out making their mark on the world. Kari also helps in the children’s department at Oasis Community Church.
