Kathryn is a paramedic in our Hot Springs Division. She has been part of the LifeNet family since 2018.
“I’ve always been a ‘mother hen’ and always wanted to help anyone around me however I can. I was a firm believer that God had a specific job for each of us and one day He would let me know what mine was,” she said as she described why she became a paramedic. “EMS is what my calling is. I love being able to serve my God, help those around me, and have fun while doing it all.”
“Everything” is the word Kathryn uses to describe what she loves most about her career.
“My coworkers are amazing and supportive. I can text or call anyone, anytime, for advice or help, and they will always find a way. It’s more like a family here,” she said. “I also love the feeling of reward that comes after being able to help someone through their emergency; whether it’s a lift assist or something worse.”
In addition to her coworkers, Kathryn also enjoys certain things about working at LifeNet.
“The company has been able to provide us with amazing equipment that helps make our lives on the truck easier and definitely more beneficial for the patients,” she said.
For others considering a career in EMS, Kathryn offers this advice: “It’s not a job for everyone, and you’ll know quickly if it’s your calling or not. If you believe EMS is where you are meant to be, no matter how hard it gets, keep going. In the end, it will be worth it.”
When she is not at work, Kathryn enjoys hiking with her fiancé, wrangling her precious nieces, cooking out with her family, or just enjoying a lazy day on the couch.
