Rotarians with the Oaklawn Rotary Club of Texarkana had the opportunity to learn how to do bystander CPR on September 25th when LifeNet Clinical Coordinator Randy Bean presented “Stayin’ Alive”.  While not designed to certify the Rotarians in CPR, the brief presentation and hands-on class teaches bystanders the basics of how to do chest compressions.

The American Heat Association now recommends people perform hands-only CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths if they see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting (such as at home, at work, or in a park).

Hands-Only CPR consists of two easy steps:
1. Call 9-1-1 (or send someone to do that).
2. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
