LifeNet paramedics in Stillwater attended a training at Stillwater Medical Center to learn about the new Getinge CARDIOSAVE IABP machines the hospital has purchased.
Paramedics learned about pathophysiology, IABP theory, care of the patient with an IABP, and logistics of transporting these patients.
For those not familiar with medical acronyms, IABP stands for intra-aortic balloon pump. An IABP is a therapeutic device designed to help the heart pump more blood. You may need it if your heart is unable to pump enough blood for your body.
